This standard is one of the most recognisable and used in the world, because it ensures that products and services meet a certain level of quality, in that they are reliable, safe, consistent, meet customer expectations, continuously improve and comply with the law.
In the health industry (i.e. hospitals and day surgeries) it is mandatory to be accredited against either a Quality Management System such as ISO9001 or Australian Council Healthcare Standards (ACHS) or the National Safety & Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHSS). This is why the Hamilton Day Surgery has always been certified.
However, it is not mandatory for a specialist practice - like Hunter Pain Clinic - to be accredited. Dr Russo and the Hunter Pain Clinic team chose to enhance the reputation of the practice by demonstrating a commitment above that what is required.
The certification is reviewed annually and renewed every three years.
